Brasserie Cordonnier – Family and Wallet-friendly French Bistro

By Wilbur Suen

Brasseries Cordonnier is an authentic and affordable French restaurant located in Sukhumvit Soi 11, just beside Le Fenix Hotel.

Soak into the French atmosphere as you enter Brasserie Cordonnier. There’s actually a theme of “Cobbler” to this restaurant and hence you will see decorations related to the theme in the restaurant.

Brasserie Cordonnier is popular for its affordable fare, without breaking the bank. You get to enjoy the authentic French flavours thanks to Executive Chef Clement Hernandez.

While our meal is being prepared, we got to taste some of their signature and French-influenced classic cocktails.

Time for starters!

BrasserieCordonnier-TruffleButter

We highly recommend you to order this additional side of Truffle Butter as it goes so well with the bread!

BrasserieCordonnier-escargot

Escargots De Bourgogne [390฿] – Burgundy snails with garlic, parsley & pastis.

BrasserieCordonnier-FoieGrasTerrine

Terrine De Foie Gras Facon Cordonnier [560฿] – Foie gras terrine Cordonnier with toasted brioche, fresh grapes & grape chutney.

Fans of foie gras will have no problem finishing this dish by themselves.

BrasserieCordonnier-frenchonionsoup

Soupe A L’oignon Gratinee [280฿] – French onion soup with baguette, chicken stock, emmental cheese & parsley.

I’m not a fan of onion but I was able to drink this onion soup easily since it didn’t have any pungent smell of onion.

BrasserieCordonnier-ratatouille

Ratatouille Froide Revisitee [280฿] – Chilled mix of Mediterranean vegetables with a trio of tomatoes, sunflower seeds & mint.

The freshness of the ingredients make this a very appetising and healthy dish.

BrasserieCordonnier-BeefBourgignon

Boeuf Bourguignon [520฿] – Beef bourguignon, glazed carrots, bacon, mushrooms & red wine.

BrasserieCordonnier-Codwithlemonbutter

Cabillaud Meuniere [580฿] – Sauteed cod with crushed potatoes, shallots, capers, parsley, lemon & brown butter sauce.

We would prefer the cod to be slightly less cooked to give it a softer bite.

BrasserieCordonnier-pork

Poitrine De Porc Confite [420฿] – Confit pork belly with baby potatoes, red apple, spring onions & onion puree.

This dish gave a wide variety of flavours from sweet to savoury. Although the pork belly was well cooked, we definitely prefer the skin to be crispier so that this dish would be able to stand out.

BrasserieCordonnier-trufflemashpotato

Truffle Mash Potatoes [110฿] – If you love truffle and mash potatoes, this is a perfect combination.

BrasserieCordonnier-applepie

Tarte Tatin [220฿] – Apple tarte tatin with red apples, puff pastry & cinnamon iced parfait.

The cinnamon ice cream was a surprise as it wasn’t a very common flavour but it was delicious though. The puff pastry also was a good match and it’s definitely one of the must-order desserts here.

BrasserieCordonnier-pistachiocremebrulee

Creme Brulee A la Pistache [200฿] -Pistachio creme brulee with homemade pistachio paste.

We appreciate the effort to make the very common creme brulee into something different here, with the addition of pistachio.

BrasserieCordonnier-nougat

Nougat Glace Sauce Fruits Rouges [200฿] – Iced nougat & red berries sauce with dried apricots, dried cranberries, strawberries, raspberries & grand marnier.

Brasserie Cordonnier does live up to its name to provide authentic and affordable French cuisine to the mass without breaking the bank. We were particularly impressed with the flavours from the starters, appetisers and desserts as they left a stronger impression.

This was an invited media tasting. As always, all reviews and opinions are entirely my own.
