Chili Hip & Walk

By Wilbur Suen

Chili Hip

Chili Hip & WALK of Centara Watergate Pavillion Hotel is currently the latest Rooftop Bar in Bangkok (as of November 2013). Finally, a rooftop bar in the heart of Pratunam.

Chili Hip provides a romantic rooftop open-air seating dining experience on the 20th floor. It serves authentic Thai contemporary cuisine using only the finest ingredients created by Executive Chef, John  Ranaudo.

Chili Hip - Halloween

I was here during Halloween and they had a Halloween theme that day!

Chili Hip - Private Dining

There is also a private dining room and I thought that this was a very cool room!

Chili Hip

This is the overview of Chili Hip. Time now for some food and drinks!

Chili Hip - Spicy Kraffe Lime
Spicy Kraffelime – A spicy cocktail, something different from the other bars.

Do expect dishes to be spicy as the name suggests. You will also be glad to know that there are non spicy dishes as well.

Chili Hip - Crab Roll
Crispy Crab Rolls with Sweet Chilli Salsa (THB$260) – Inside the crispy deep fried rice paper is real crab meat. A nice change from the usual spring rolls.

Chili Hip - DishesHere are the staff in Halloween attire… They are a fun bunch, making the atmosphere fun and light. 🙂

Chili Hip - YakisobaYakisoba (THB$190) – Wok fried egg noodles with chicken or pork topped with seaweed and served with ginger pickles. This is comfort food for me and it’s very delicious!

Chili Hip - Chicken Breast with MangoChicken Breast with Mango and Chilli Salsa (THB$240) – Stir fried chicken breast with ripe mango and chilli salsa. I like how the mango does wonder to this dish, making it juicy and sweet.

Chili Hip - Lamb ShankSlow Cooked Lamb Shank with Soya Sauce, Lemon and Garlic (THB$420)  – I don’t usually take lamb due to its lingering aftertaste. But thankfully, this was properly cooked and does not have the aftertaste.

Chili Hip - Chili DomeThe Chili Dome (THB$240) – Thin chocolate dome filled with spicy chocolate mousse served with almond croquet and raspberry jelly. I thought this was an ice cream at the first glance but it’s not, its spicy chocolate mousse! I thought if it’s an ice cream, the coldness of it will bring it to another level.

Chili Hip - Chili SorbetChili Sorbet

Chili Hip - HalloweenThank you for the fun night guys!

WALK

The sky lounge above the Chili Hip floor is WALK Bar, a rooftop open-air sky lounge on the 21st floor serving snacks and all manner of drinks which include a DJ station pulsating with the beat of DJs spinning every night.

The view around is the skyline of Bangkok and high rise buildings of Pratunam hotels.

+ Like

If you like chilli and spices, you got to try their dishes and drinks here.

– Dislike

No indoor area to hide if it rains. The only place to hide is at Cafe 9.

= Conclusion

It’s a nice place to chill out with your friends without having to travel far if you are staying in Pratunam. Do come here before their official opening in December, so that you can enjoy this beautiful rooftop to yourself. Not many know of this place yet! 🙂
