Ad Lib Bangkok, a boutique hotel well hidden in Sukhumvit Soi 1, is a hotel unlike the normal big hotel chains. In fact, there are many reasons to love about this hotel. What I love here is the privacy, serene environment and personalised service.
The entrance itself makes you feel comfortable, as if you are going home.
There’s no check-in counter nor lobby, just very comfortable lounge sofas for you to sit down and relax while a hotel staff collects your passport and does the administrative processes for you.
Of course, you will be served welcome drinks and towels to freshen up.
The lounge sofas are so comfortable that I can just sit here surf all my social media accounts for hours. Check-in was done swiftly and I was then led to my room!
Rooms (Plush Room)
There is nothing very fancy about the room designs here and they have kept it very simple but beautiful. All rooms in the hotel are designed the same. Minimalist approach, just concrete, wood and very plush comfortable beds that come with premium bed linen and hypoallergenic pillows.
I like the electric sockets here as they come in 3-pin plugs, perfect for Singaporeans.
Even the cups here carry the brand.
Modern toiletries in a beautifully designed bathroom.
Rain-shower, I love it.
Premium toiletries included.
At Ad Lib, they have Extra Plush Rooms, a premium service which includes the following:
- All-you-can-stuff-on-your-bed pillows
- Unlimited fresh coffee and tea, room delivered from our barista
- Early check in and late check out subject to availability
- Free laundry (3 pieces per day)
- Free minibar (refilled daily)
- Samsung Galaxy phone with data service (credit 100 baht per day)
- BTS ticket pass (one ticket per room per day) or Complimentary Drinks from Ad Lib Restaurant
Facilities
This infinity swimming pool is so beautiful. And being a boutique hotel, it also means that you will have more of the swimming pool to yourself since there are fewer people in the hotel.
The pool lounge area is so comfortable too.
Breakfast
Breakfast here consists of both buffet and ala-carte items. You can either dine indoors or at the outdoor terrace.
Coffee and tea here are of premium stuff. And this is the Egg Benedict served at Ad Lib. So beautiful right?
The Ad Lib Big Breakfast.
The hotel is so beautiful, both in the day and night time. The lushness will set you away from the buzz of the city.
Dinner
At Ad Lib, I see people coming in not as hotel guests, but as guests for brunch, lunch and dinner. Probably because this place is so beautiful.
Goong Salong [280฿++] – Prawns wrapped in chinese noodle with chilli mayo dip. The chinese noodle probably made the dish a little too salty.
Pork Ribs & Aglio Olio [480฿++] – The pork ribs is braised till it’s soft and leaves the bone with ease. Aglio Olio on the other hand was a little too dry for my liking.
Som Tam Moo Yang [280฿++] – Very refreshing som tam with the smokiness of chilli. The spices have all been soaked into the papaya making it soft, wet yet still crunchy. The grilled pork had a smoky flavour to it and this definitely went well with som tam.
Brioch French Toast [280฿++] – French toast with a soft center topped with Berry Sorbet and Berries. The Sorbet is thick in flavour yet light.
Minus The Jetleg [320฿++] – A refreshing fruity kiwi cocktail.
Tuk Tuk Service
Ad Lib’s Tuk Tuk service is available from 8am to 10pm and it will take you to BTS Nana. You can request for pickup back to the hotel at the main road of Sukhumvit Soi 1 and the nearest is BTS Ploenchit.
If you want somewhere more private and quiet with personalised service, Ad Lib will definitely be a good choice!
