There is no shortage of accommodation options in Pratunam and we have been seeing many new 3-star hotels popping up all around. If you are those who want something more than that – a hotel with elegantly furnished white wood, marble decor, marble bathtub for your Instagram photos, Akara Hotel Bangkok will be something you should consider.

akarabangkok-fables

Akara Hotel Bangkok is technically located in Phaya Thai district but I would still consider it to be in Pratunam because it’s just next to Airport Rail Link Ratchaprarop and you can enter the busy shopping district of Pratunam in less than 5 minutes by foot.

akarabangkok-lobby

Be welcomed by the beautiful stairs in the lobby. Akara Bangkok is not your typical 5-star hotels by the big brands, it doesn’t have lots of space to play with but what this boutique hotel offers is something more and you will find out as you read on.

Complimentary Afternoon Tea?!

Guests of Akara Bangkok get to enjoy complimentary afternoon tea at the Culinary Library & Tea Lounge from 2-5pm daily. If you love reading cookbooks, you will find yourself stuck here for a few hours.

Time to head up to our rooms and today we are staying in Siam Suite.

akarabangkok-suite2

Siam Suite is a spacious 45sqm room and the rooms are classily-furnished with natural white wood. We love the artisanal luxe decor, it makes you feel elegant just living here.

Apart from high and comfortable beds, we love the other touches that make the whole experience different. The lighting and air-conditioning of the room are controlled by a mini-tablet by the bed and it makes turning on/off the lights such a breeze.

We enjoyed connecting our phones to the JBL Horizon Bluetooth speaker, allowing us to enjoy our favourite music with high-quality audio.

Say hello to the marble bathroom!

Females will love spending their time here, especially with the marble decor, taking hundreds of photos for Instagram.

From the room, you can look over to Pratunam and as you can see, the Airport Rail Link station is in close proximity.

You can’t stay in Akara Hotel and not visit the swimming pool. The pool is not big but it offers an exceptionally beautiful unobstructed view.

We prefer the night view because the pool turns into a beauty with the colourful lights and we have to mention that the swimming pool is open till 12am.

At Akara, there’s also Barracuda Rooftop Bar on the 18th floor where you can get some cocktails and bar snacks to enjoy the beautiful skyline.

Roschas Culinary School

If you love cooking or keen to learn some Thai cooking, you will be happy to know that Akara Bangkok houses Roschas Culinary School on Level 3 and this is the place where you get to join a half-day cooking class at just 1599 baht [On-going promo at 1399 baht until April 2020, kids get 50% off] (which is a steal compared to the market rate) and it’s right in Pratunam. So if you are staying in Pratunam, you don’t have to worry about waking up early and being stuck in the jam just to head out for your cooking class.

roschasculinaryschool-wilbur

The menu at Roschas Culinary School is different everyday so you get to learn a variety of dishes. We will be learning 4 Thai dishes + 1 Thai dessert. Can’t wait to start cooking.

roschasculinaryschool-chef

We started off by watching our instructor demonstrate the proper way to prepare every dish. We would then taste his dish to know how it should rightfully taste like.

roschasculinaryschool-yum

Our first dish was Yum Salad and it was relatively easy to prepare but challenging to balance its flavour profile. There were also some eye-opening techniques we previously didn’t know, that made the dish extra delicious.

Green Curry and Spring Rolls!

roschasculinaryschool-cert

Here’s our completed dishes and every participant will get a printed certificate.

roschasculinaryschool-cocktail

The class only ended after an additional cocktail-making session up on Ross Kitchen, something we didn’t expect, and was not provided in other cooking classes we previously attended. How cool is that?

We then headed up to the restaurant to eat the food that we cooked. Although the food was already cold, we were thankful for the delicious flavours allowing us to enjoy the food.

Ross Kitchen

We also got to check out the Thai food at Ross Kitchen. They feature food from different regions of Thailand in a modern fusion style but you will still get to enjoy the authentic flavours from it. It’s not your typical Thai central food such as Pad Thai or Fried Rice but something more than that. We love the ambience and decor at Ross Kitchen and you should definitely get your cameras ready. Read more about Ross Kitchen here.

akarabangkok-meetingroom

Guests of Akara Hotel can make use of the cosy meeting room but pre-booking is required. Book lovers will love this corner.

If you are looking for a boutique hotel with a nice bathtub near Pratunam, just next to Airport Rail Link Ratchaprarop, this makes a good option.
