Update: December 2019
Artbox finally got their permanent home after running around different locations for several years. They are now settled at Chuvit Gardens, Sukhumvit Soi 10, just next to Nana BTS Station.
From Nana BTS Station, go through Exit 3 on the sheltered overhead bridge and you will arrive at Artbox in less than 3mins.
Artbox is open daily from 5pm to 12am. Artbox is famous for its trendy container night market which comprises of food, art booths, souvenir and lifestyle shops. With the live band available daily, you can simply get some cheap beer and order your favourite food and just find a spot to chill out.
There are lots of food options in Artbox but which should you try? We are here to solve your problem and here are our 10 recommendations after trying the various food in Artbox.
#1 Mango Nista
Order: Mango & Honey Smoothie with Honeycomb [129฿]
One of the most prominent shops in Artbox has to be Mango Nista with their modern and minimalist design. They sell all things mango and we love that their drinks are smooth and not too sweet, just natural sweetness from the mango. For those who prefer a sweeter option, be sure to inform them.
#2 Pitbull BBQ
Order: Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese [100฿]
We heard lots of good comments for this shop even before going to Artbox. They specialise in all things BBQ, from substantial items like pork ribs to lighter bites like the Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese we tried.
#3 Barbie & Bottle
Order: Beef Tenderloin [180฿]
Beef lovers will naturally be attracted to this shop. You are already salivating just by watching them prepare your steak. It is quite similar to Taiwan Beef Cubes but trust us, this is better as it’s so tender and juicy.
#4 Fried World
Order: Only Cheese [89฿]
For those who love cheese and fries, don’t miss out this shop. We tried their Only Cheese which comprises of 4 cheese + 1 mayo. It’s addictive, who doesn’t love cheese fries?
#5 Krua Zapp World
Order: Tom Yum Seafood Fried Rice [150฿]
If you want something more substantial, check out their Tom Yum Seafood Fried Rice. Flavourful and packs a punch.
#6 Full Moon Cafe’
Order: Cheesesteak Sandwich [200฿]
Need some burger fix with cheese? Try their cheesesteak sandwich. The tender beef, cheese and soft bread make it so delicious. You can also choose other meat options if you don’t take beef.
For some light snacks, try Gai Ama’schinese-style sweet and sour chicken wings or if you are vegetarian, try their salted-egg eggplant fries. It is lightly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. This is perhaps a healthier alternative to french fries.
#9 Core Prapow & Kin Padthai
Order: Pad Krapow & Pad Thai [From 49฿]
If you want to try the local everyday comfort food, you can’t go wrong with pad krapow and pad thai. It fills your stomach without hurting your wallet.
#10 Hungry Grill
Order: Mookata [199฿ per pax]
Many of you asked me where to eat Mookata in Bangkok right? This is the perfect place to have an communal meal with friends at a crazy price of 199THB eat-all-you-can.
If you need some fun or want to vent your anger, check out the axe-throwing section!
For those who have visited Artbox recently and comparing to the previous Artbox runs, we know what you are thinking. Yes, it is smaller, it feels like a premium night market but we are convinced that the food is of great quality, especially if you follow our recommendations.
ArtBox Bangkok is the latest kind of Night Market to hit Bangkok! And the concept is rather interesting. Instead of the usual tentages, this night market uses containers and the vibe here is totally different from the other night markets currently in Bangkok.
ArtBox Bangkok started in 12 June 2015. Initially it was planned to open for only 2 weekends, but it seems that they are extending it to a weekly affair. Not surprising though because it have been very popular and thousands of teenagers and young adults stream to this place with their friends weekly.
Walking around, I see many people taking selfies and photos against the backdrop of this place. How can a container be so nice! Now you see it!
How can ArtBox be without art?
There are lots of interesting stuff designed by teenagers and I must say that Thais are very entrepreneurial.
Land of Smiles. This pretty girl posed with a smile when she saw me taking a photo of her shop. Thank you for making my day! :) Do checkout their interesting Mushroom Snack at Facebook or Instagram (@smacksmushroom)
Here are some shops selling food and desserts which caught my attention and I do see many people buying too.
The live band did make the whole place very lively!
You see many food trucks operating too and you can sit in style to have your food.
If you happen to be in Bangkok and they are open, you definitely have to check out this night market. I must say that this night market is “Limited Edition”. Do checkout their Facebook Page to find out when they are operating. :)
