Ban Mai Chay Nam came up as a must visit restaurant when I was researching for places to visit in Khao Yai.
Being a river side restaurant with a vintage museum in the restaurant itself, it easily made my shortlist.
The place really did not disappoint me at all. We met the owners and got a tour of the restaurant and their new hotel resort which we did not know about before our visit.
The museum was huge with so much to see. If you appreciate collectibles and vintage pieces, you will love this place.
Their hotel is huge. We got a tour of the place though it was not fully opened yet.
Restaurant
Our purpose of visiting Ban Mai Chay Nam was actually to have dinner at their restaurant.
A river side restaurant with a vintage museum was something we just had to check out.
The place is actually really huge and there are tons of seating options here.
We got to speak to the owners and they told us that they actually get full house occupancy during the Khao Yai peak season during winter.
I had a lot of fun exploring both the museum and the restaurant.
Here is the food we ate when we were there.
Prawns
Soup
Skewered Pork
Cashew Chicken. This is one of their best sellers and recommended dishes. I have to say, I really was not disappointed, I loved it. There was a crisp to the chicken and the meat was not dry.
Coconut by the river, what could be more perfect than that?
Resort Hotel
Apart from the restaurant and museum, Ban Mai Chay Nam actually expanded and built a resort hotel. Located just opposite the restaurant and museum, the hotel is just a bridge away.
Even the resort  area is full of collectibles and adorable decor like this ferocious attack dog.
This is the hotel swimming pool. With chairs and swings around, the pool area is a perfect place to relax at.
The hotel stretches along the river and they even have a room with a waterfall view.
This is what one of their rooms looks like.
I love the  homely  feel their rooms have.
This is the balcony of the room.
If you are planning a trip to Khao Yai, you can contact them for more information at their Facebook page.
Museum
I do not think I need to say much about the museum except that it was much bigger then I expected.
They have lots of superhero figures there.
Batman watches over the museum.
The owners find collectibles from all over the world, many of which are vintage.
Foosball!
More Batman.
A new piece to their collections, a Jared Leto Joker.
I think you can tell I like batman from the pictures I took.
Mr Bean! If you watched Mr Bean before, spot the little things here which represents his adventures.
Car collectibles.
Terminator!
These Thai collectibles are some of their most prized pieces.
They even have Elvis!
More superhero pieces.
Captain America!
Be sure to bring your camera because you will regret it if you don’t.
