Tucked within the shopping street of Hongdae is Cafe Oumt. It is a spacious and cosy cafe on the second storey, where you can rest your aching feet after all that walking with a slice of cake (or two), and a cup of coffee in hand.
Be spoiled silly with its range of cakes and tarts that are sure to satisfy your sweet tooth!
I found it to be a very ideal spot not only to hang out with friends, but also to have some alone time with a good book because it’s just so spacious!
After a happy dilemma over which cakes to pick, I finally decided to go with these three:
Strawberry Shortcake, Tiramisu, and a Strawberry Cheesecake with Pistachio Crumb
Accompanying our cakes were warm cups of Vanilla Latte and Cafe Mocha. Coffee is always a good idea!
I Â dug my fork into the Strawberry Shortcake first and I was not disappointed at all! The light fluffy layers of vanilla cake went hand in hand with the generous mix of fresh strawberries and cream. This one’s definitely for those who like their cakes sweet throughout, for it does lack a certain tartness to offset the overall taste in my opinion.
The Strawberry Cheesecake with Pistachio Crumb did not stand out as much as the biscuit base had too much butter that it overwhelmed the taste of the entire slice. Â The taste of the pistachio crumbs definitely got lost in the mix of cream cheese and strawberry as well.
The clear winner out of the three was the Tiramisu! Made up of mille crepe and cake layers, it provided an interesting contrast to the two other cakes we had before this. It does not contain alcohol, instead it has a stronger taste of espresso for the cake layers, while the mascarpone cheese was more distinct between the layers of mille crepe.
Do give this slice a shot! We recommend it!
Most locals would order an Iced Americano without even looking at the menu, but of course, more adventurous folk like us opt for fancy drinks like a Cafe Mocha and Vanilla Latte.
The Cafe Mocha was rich and sweet, with a slight bitter after taste, making it a great drink to pair with cakes like the Strawberry Cheesecake.
As for Vanilla Latte, the taste of the vanilla stands out with each sip and is a little on the sweeter side. The coffee itself is rich and good, so you can consider making a trip here to get your daily dose of caffeine too!
