Charoenkrung is known for its traditional shophouses, street food and wet market, all frequent by locals. Recently, we have observed a gradual ‘modernisation’ of Charoenkrung with the introduction of stylish new restaurants and cafés. The latest notable addition has to be Casa Sapparod on Charoenkrung 44, a bright and colourful pineapple-themed restaurant.
You won’t miss Casa Sapparod with their distinctive facade against its neighbours.
The interior decor is very tropical and there’s a striking pineapple wallpaper covering the entire back wall.
It is a good photo spot too.
Casa Saparrod’s signature drinks include Pineapple Kombucha [120฿] (left), a refreshing drink made from fermented jungle oolong tea mixed with pineapple. On the right is Pineapple Ginger Chill [150฿], made from homemade ginger syrup, fresh lime and pineapple juice.
Dim Sum Thod [180฿]
This deep-fried pork and prawn dim sum has pineapple in it giving that extra tinge of sweetness.
Moo Ping Panang [240฿] – This taste as good as it looks. On the skewers is marinated pork jowl with Pattawia pineapple, served with a sweet and nutty panang curry sauce. We even saw a customer coming in just for this.
Gaeng Phed Ped Yang [290฿] – This is common classic red curry with roasted duck together with the tropical flavours of Phuket pineapple and salak (snake fruit). This goes well with steamed rice and we can easily just come in for this to complete our lunch.
Their signature, Pineapple Fried Rice [from 220฿]. You might find it surprising, but pineapple rice is not a common local dish, only tourists order it. Casa Sapparod might have one of the best versions of it in the city. It is seasoned with their homemade curry powder, giving that extra curry spice. Their fried rice uses Siracha pineapple and organic brown rice from Nakhon Pathom. You can choose from Pork, Chicken and Seafood options.
Pineapple Pudding [170฿] – A creamy and tangy-sweet coconut pudding.
Flamebeed Pineapple [170฿] – Pineapple flambéed with local Thai rum, spices and homemade vanilla ice cream. If you can only choose 1 dessert, go with this. This advice is our way of saying “thank you” for reading till the end of the article.
If you are not a fan of pineapples, do not discourage your pineapple lover friends from coming as Casa Sapparod has a few pineapple-free dishes on the menu as well!
