As published on The Straits Times, my favourite area to stay in Bangkok is Pratunam. Simply because there are lots of shopping and street food in Pratunam. The only downside is the lack of BTS but taxis are in abundance, so it’s not much of an issue for me.
I’m elated to see new new hotels opening in Pratunam and this time, it’s from a leading hotel chain in Thailand, Centara Hotels & Resorts. They are also owners of Centara Grand at Central World, an iconic hotel just beside Pratunam.
Centara Watergate Pavillion is a four-star hotel located along Rachaprarob Road, just diagonally opposite Indra Square / Hotel and is walking distance to Airport Rail Link Rachaprarob Station.
The hotel is sitted above Watergate Pavillion Shopping Mall, hence you have to walk through the shopping mall to get to the Hotel.
The first entrance into the hotel is a trendy waiting area. When you need a taxi to get you to places, the conceirge will help you to get a taxi at the main road and you can wait here comfortably.
Hotel Lobby
To get to the lobby, you will need to take the lift up to Level 9.
While you at checking in, your family members / friends can take a sit at the unique lobby with beautiful design details.
Such a beautiful lobby with settings and plots which are so unique for you to take photo with.
Let’s head on up to checkout the rooms!
What a beautiful hallway! If you noticed the designs of the hotel, they are based on Lines, expect to see more of it as you explore.
Rooms
Contemporary design, comfort, and modern amenities define the hotel’s accommodation options which offer a variety of configurations, from two double beds best suited to families, or bunk beds in a separate area for the younger ones to our signature soft king bed.
Each room and suite offers individually controlled air-conditioning, minibar, tea and coffee making facilities, in-room safe, satellite TV, hairdryer, work station, IDD telephone line and complimentary wireless internet access.
In this post, we will be featuring the different rooms available.
Superior Family Room (26 Â square metres)
This is the room which I stayed in. WOW! White Minimalistic Design. The room just feels so simple, modern and clean. Open the curtains and the room becomes so bright. Most importantly, the beds are so soft and comfortable!
A small in-built table for me to do my work.
Look at the shower area, it’s a circular design. If there’s one thing to complain, it will be the shower curtain which is located outside the toilet instead of inside. Â I just don’t understand but it seems like many new hotels have such features! Perhaps it’s more suited for couples who just wants to be naughty. :P
The room at night! The bed is constantly inviting me to sleep on it.
Now, let’s take a look at the toilet.
Very modern and clean and it’s relatively spacious.
Oh yes, the love of many, Rain Shower!
You will be glad to know that bathrobes are provided.
A simple mini-bar tucked in a small side corner.
Deluxe Room (26 – 32 square metres)
Deluxe Room is bigger and for those who really have problem with the circular bathrooms with the curtain outside, you will be happy to know that this is not the case in Deluxe Room. Now, you can bath with ease.
Deluxe Family Residence (34 square metres)
Deluxe Family Residence is more suited for families with young children. It features a bunk bed and also a bathtub. Something different from Superior and Deluxe rooms.
Deluxe One Bedroom Suite (39 – 43 square metres)
Deluxe One Bedroom Suite is also more suited for family. I prefer this to Family Residence as it is much more spacious and I won’t feel as restricted. It also comes with a sofa bed and coffee maker machine.
Metro Suite  (107 square metres)
This is the biggest room in the whole hotel. It is indeed vary spacious and it comes with a  terrace and a big bathtub.
Different kinds of chairs to suit you. For me, I will go for the sofa! :)
A work desk with a proper chair and a view of the city.
Everything is in pairs. Washing Basin and Bathtub.
In Metro Suite, there is a outdoor terrace overlooking Pratunam.
Moom Sabai
There is no swimming pool in Centara Watergate Pavillion due to the building restrictions. They have brilliantly decided to create a space where guests can just lie down to chill and relax with the sight and sounds of water. You can even order cocktails from Infuze bar located adjacent to the reception.
Isn’t it beautiful? Don’t you just want to lie down here and relax.
Behold, the evening view is even better, simply magnificent!

Verdict
Rooms: I absolutely love the beautiful white rooms and the bed which is so comfortable. So comfortable that I felt lazy to go out. You just want to laze around on the bed.
Food: The international breakfast buffet offers a wide selection of food from different cuisines. The warm dishes are ok but my favourite would be the pastries section with the croissants.
Chill: I like Moom Sabai, a concept which is unique, different and relaxing. I wish I had time to chill out there.
Overall: Centara Watergate Pavillion Hotel is rated 4 stars. As per what Khun Ben (Asst. PR Manager) told me, although they are a 4-star hotel, they aim to provide 5-star service and facilities. And yes, they managed to do it. This is definitely one of my favourite 4-star hotel in Pratunam with a reasonable pricing.
