When someone mentions “hostel”, you will probably associate it with “old and dirty” but now, it isn’t the case anymore. There are many new and boutique hostels which are so beautiful. In fact, many of such hostels are even better than some 3 star hotels around.
CHAO Hostel, is a brand new modern and luxurious hostel, located 5 mins away from BTS National Stadium.
It’s actually located next to Siam@Siam Design Hotel. You can easily see the sign “CHAO Hostel” when you walk into the “Soi Kasem San 3”.
CHAO Hostel is located on the 8th floor of Siam@Siam building (office side). Be welcomed by this beautiful sight.
Let’s check-in! Do check out their interesting welcome drink. It’s called “Ya-dong”, a traditional Thai alcohol made from herbs and spices.
For most hostels in Bangkok, you will have to climb up a flight of stairs before reaching your room. At CHAO Hostel, you don’t have to!
The design concept here is based on a river house, linked to the Thai way of life! You basically get to experience the Thai culture once you step in.
Rooms
At CHAO Hostel, they have both private rooms and dorms but private rooms make up the majority.
Private Rooms
All rooms are furnished with local and custom made equipment, blending together the rustic old town lifestyle and modern comforts.
Check out the switches here!
The toilet itself has so many things to check out! Look at the wall motifs, switches and basin.
Breakfast
Hostels usually don’t provide breakfast but at CHAO, they provide you with Thai snacks, free-of-charge! It usually consists of breakfast items which the locals have, such as Kanom Krok (coconut pudding) and Pattango (deep fried dough sticks).
If you are feeling spendy, you can join for breakfast at Siam@Siam’s Party House One for 400 baht per pax.

CHAO Hostel is definitely my favourite hostel for now, it’s the best in its class. The private rooms start from 1600”Ž฿ per night while for dorms, a single bed costs 600”Ž฿ per night.
