Thai food originated from different regions around Thailand and the popular ones that we are familiar with are usually from Central and North-East (Isaan). How about Northern Thai food? If you have visited Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai before, you probably will know about the Lanna style food. It’s not easy to find a good restaurant in Bangkok serving Northern Thai food but today, we are happy to introduce Gedhawa.

Gedhawa is located in Sukhumvit Soi 35, just less than 5 minutes walk from EmQuartier.

As you enter the old house, you will be greeted by Lanna style deco and interior.

It probably helps to set you in the right mood for the right cuisine.

gedhawa-pomelosalad

Pomelo Salad  [100฿]! This is a good appetiser as the pomelo was so  refreshing!

gedhawa-sausage

Northern Thai Sausage [100฿] is unlike any sausage which you have tasted. The flavours are complex because they are filled with herbs, spices and red curry paste. So addictive!

gedhawa-khaosoi

Khao Soi  [100฿] was well executed and tasted exactly like those I had in Chiang Mai. You definitely need to order these here.

gedhawa-platterset

Lanna Style Platter  which you have to try if it’s your first time eating Lanna style food. The main star here is actually the chilli paste accompanied with various vegetables and meat to go with it.

gedhawa-steameggsoursausage

Steam Egg with Sour Sausage wasn’t really to my liking due to the acquired taste.

The rest of the dish here was impressive and I would love to return to try out their other dishes too as their menu is extensive!

So, if you are looking for somewhere in Bangkok for some affordable and delicious Northern Thai style dishes, check out Gedhawa at Sukhumvit Soi 35! Oh, I also presented them with our AroiMakMak sticker too!
