It’s been 7 years since my last trip to Hong Kong — and I’ve missed it dearly. Aside from Thailand, Hong Kong is the place I’m most familiar with. Being Cantonese also gives me an added advantage — navigating around the city feels almost second nature. Over the years, I’ve explored many parts of Hong Kong — from the bustling streets of Mongkok and Sham Shui Po to the glitzy shopping areas of Tsim Sha Tsui, Causeway Bay, and Central. But in recent years, Wan Chai has become my go-to base whenever I visit, thanks to the mix of local character, food options, and convenience it offers.
While researching places to stay in Wan Chai, I stumbled upon a new property — Hopewell Hotel, a newly opened hotel with over 1,000 rooms.
Getting to Hopewell Hotel is simple. From Hong Kong International Airport, take the Airport Express Train to Hong Kong Station, then transfer to the MTR line toward Wan Chai Station. The entire journey takes under an hour.

What I loved most was the sheltered walkway all the way from Wan Chai MTR station to the hotel.

You’ll first spot the iconic (but older) Hopewell Centre. Don’t be confused — the hotel is in a new tower behind the old building.

Simply follow the clear signage, walk past Watsons and McDonald’s, and you’ll enter a newly built shopping mall with lift access to the Hopewell Hotel lobby on Level 19.

Room with a View: Premium Harbour Twin Room

I stayed in the Premium Harbour Twin Room, and the view of Victoria Harbour was absolutely stunning — the kind of view that makes your stay in Hong Kong unforgettable.

The room itself was modern, spacious, and spotlessly clean. Honestly, it didn’t even feel like I was in a typical compact Hong Kong hotel.
My friend, Songchai from @food_leveling booked the Deluxe Suite, which conveniently connected to my room, offering even more space and comfort — perfect for families or groups traveling together.

Gym or Breakfast?

The breakfast buffet at Hopewell Hotel was another highlight.

The spread features a wide variety of international and local options, but I went for the Hong Kong classics — especially the dim sum. I have to say that I had one of the best Char Siew Bao in a hotel buffet!
Convenient Transport Links

Hopewell Hotel is just a 5-minute walk to the MTR station and the iconic Hong Kong Tramways.

If you’re in no rush, I highly recommend hopping on a tram to experience the city’s old-school charm.

Nightlife: Cocktails Near Wan Chai

I also explored Hong Kong’s cocktail scene with visits to Penicillin and COA — two top-notch bars known for their creativity and atmosphere. Both are close enough to take a short ride back to the hotel after a night out.
Sweet Send-Off: Bakehouse Across the Street
Before heading to the airport, I made one last stop — Bakehouse, my sister’s only request from Hong Kong. To my delight, one of their outlets is located directly opposite Hopewell Hotel, making it super convenient to pick up some pastries for the flight home.

If you’re looking for a modern, well-located, and value-for-money hotel in Hong Kong, I highly recommend Hopewell Hotel. It ticks all the boxes — spacious rooms, stunning views, convenient transport, and food options right at your doorstep.
