There are countless of hostels, hotels and apartments in Bangkok. At AroiMakMak, we want to bring you as much information as possible. And so, we are happy to bring you a brand new category – Hostel (popular with backpackers and budget travelers).
There are many hostels and 2 star hotels offering cheap stays. However, many don’t look presentable. Thankfully, there are still a few hostels which are actually boutique hostels offering clean and modern rooms. I went to check them out for myself and stayed in the hostel to have a first hand experience. Do note that these are not hotels and don’t expect full 5 star service. But many new hostels aim to provide as much service and facilities while still keeping the rates low for you.
HQ Hostel is located at Silom Soi 3. BTS Sala Daeng is just a 5 to 10 minute walk away. At HQ Hostel, they offer you a new visual experience of a hostel – neatly polished cement floors, wooden elements with metal furnishing.
Turn left into Silom Soi 3 and you will soon see a sign, “HQ Hostel”.
Head on in and be prepared to climb a flight of stairs.
Check-in is fast and simple. At the lobby is also the chill / hangout area where there are games for you to play, books for you to read and TV for you to watch.
HQ Hostel offers the following at Lobby:
- – Free Wifi
- – Cable TV with HBO and sport channels
- – Hits movies DVD
- – Library
- – Sport Bar with BEER
- – Tour Desk
- – Luggage Storage
- – 24 hour reception
HQ Hostel offers 5 room types and I stayed in S Type – HQ Suite. Hostel comes with shared bathrooms but here in the Suite, you get your own private room with a bathroom included.
Entering the room, at a glance, you see a white room and polished cement floors and bathroom. It definitely looks cosy and most importantly clean! The bed here is firm, which is better for your back. The pillows are soft and comforter is plush and nice.
At one glance, this is what you get in the room. In fact, the toilet is pretty spacious.
You get a Rain Shower too.
Do note that in Hostels, you are not allowed to throw tissues, sanitary pads or anything into the toilet bowl. You will need to throw it into the bin provided.
HQ Suite night view.
Other rooms offered are:
T Type – 2 Bunk Bed
M Type – 4 Bunk Bed
L Type – 6 Bunk Bed and also A Type – 10 Bunk Bed (Not in picture)
A small space for you to work out if you need.
+ Like
The location is good with many street food carts, nearby shopping and BTS. Rooms are clean with modern furnishing. Staff is friendly.
– Dislike
The steep flight of stairs, especially when you stay at the highest level. But take it as if you are doing exercise. :p
= Conclusion
A good place to stay if you want a location near to the BTS at a reasonable price. You can eat all kinds of local / hawker food around Silom. You get lots of choices for foot / thai traditional massage just across the main road.
Option 1: Taxi
The most convenient way to get there
Option 2: BTS – Sala Daeng
It takes about 10 mins to walk to the hostel
