Hungry Nerd is a popular restaurant with students and families. It is a budget-friendly restaurant serving mostly western fare and specialising in steaks and sauces. The restaurant was started by 4 young owners. The restaurant is called “Hungry Nerd” because the “nerd” in them wanted a place to experiment and analyse food in order to create interesting dishes. Every few months there would be a special item created when inspiration hits. Be sure to ask your friendly servers on the latest “nerd discovery”!

This is a great place to have a casual western dinner without having to break the bank. The setting is comfortable and you can choose to sit indoors in air-conditioned comfort or dine outdoors.

There is an assortment of food available here, from appetizers like salads to burgers and steaks. There are chicken and pork options as well for people who do not take beef.

We enjoyed the burger very much. The thick beef patty went very well with the barbeque sauce and fried egg. There was also bacon and mushroom which really added to the taste as well.

The fries were my favourite kind: crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside!

hungrynerdbkk-steak

The steak was cooked as per our instruction. We had requested for medium doneness, and it did not come overcooked as is always the case at some restaurants. There is a variety of sauces provided. Be sure to check the menu for the options available!

It is conveniently located next to Ratchatewi BTS, unlike many restaurants in Bangkok which require a trek down the sois. The prices of their steak range from 119 baht to 359 baht, depending on the cut. The reasonable pricing and friendly staff make this place a draw for many locals.  There is also a branch at Seacon Square, which is great if you’re looking to have lunch at the mall before heading to Talad Rot Fai.

Wifi is also provided.
