La Dotta La Grassa is a sister restaurant of Thonglor’s La Dotta. Both of them specialise in pasta but each restaurant presents a different feel to their customers. La Dotta La Grassa is located on the ground floor of Sacha’s Hotel UNO located in Sukhumvit Soi 19, just behind Terminal 21, directly opposite Paris Mikki.

La Dotta La Grassa is filled with lots of pink and blue and the decor and colours make it very instagrammable especially in the day. The restaurant emits a hipster old-school vibe that gives a  casual feel.

LaDottaLaGrassa-bar

There are two bars here – Alcohol bar where you can get the signature cocktails and a Bomboloni bar filled with bomboloni (Italian  filled  doughnuts).

The cocktails here are fruity and one of their signatures is  Strawberry Fritz.

Now let’s take a look at their signature offerings. One fun fact before that! They are the only restaurant in Bangkok to use a La Monferrina pasta machine (dubbed to be the “Ferrari of pasta machines”). Pasta is made fresh, daily.

Strawberries & Truffle Rocket Salad [390฿]

LaDottaLaGrassa-crabbruschetta

Fresh Crabmeat Bruschetta [340฿]

LaDottaLaGrassa-carbonara

Carbonara * yes, it’s salty!  [390฿] They specifically mention that it’s very salty on the menu, so be prepared. Sharing might be a better choice.

LaDottaLaGrassa-wagyubolognaise

Wagyu Bolognese Tagliatelle [590฿] The wagyu is a 24-hours slow-cooked beef shoulder cooked in red wine. Delicious but you need to eat it immediately once it’s served.

LaDottaLaGrassa-macandcheese

Wagyu Mac & Cheese [540฿] This is best to be shared but we felt that it was too dry for our liking.

LaDottaLaGrassa-seafoodpasta

Bouillabaisse Seafood Stew Pasta [990฿]  [AroiMakMak Recommended!] This was our favourite dish and the flavours here are on point and it will bring you back for more.

LaDottaLaGrassa-fishandclams

Seared-then-baked Seabass [550฿][AroiMakMak Recommended!]  The seabass sits on a bed of Mediterranean clams in white wine and the whole dish is just comforting and delicious! Well executed.

LaDottaLaGrassa-bomboloni

Bomboloni (Italian filled doughnuts)! Over at La Grassa, they have lots of flavours for you to choose from. Our favourite has to be the blueberry cheesecake and Nutella as it is both delicious and instagrammable.

Next time when you are in Asoke and looking for a casual Italian  pasta place, head to La Dotta La Grassa!
