King Power Mahanakhon is the trending place to be at now in Bangkok because they offer the best view of Bangkok, being the highest observatory in Thailand. King Power Mahanakhon is widely known for the Mahanakhon Skywalk but it’s much more than that! They have recently opened Mahanakhon Bangkok Skybar which is Thailand’s highest restaurant and do expect more new openings from King Power Mahanakhon in the months to come!
King Power Mahanakhon is easily acccessible via BTS Chong Nonsi (Exit 3) and upon entering the building, you will have to head to the Mahanakhon Bangkok Skybar counter to get your registration done. Following that, take the video-themed elevator up to the 76th floor and you will reach the restaurant in less than a minute!
As you step into the restaurant, you will be greeted by the wooden panelled entrance and the restaurant decor is a marriage of French elegance with Thai-inspired patterns. Tales of an adventurous yet refined traveler are told through a large sculpture of a bull head, French antique books, Japanese ceramic pottery and hand-painted vases.
At the luxurious dining area, you will be greeted with elegant lamps with floor-to-ceiling windows, offering you an impressive view of Bangkok.
For those who prefer more privacy, there’s even an intimate corner but of course, reservations are required.
The indoor white marble bar area serves an extensive list of classic cocktails and over 100 curated wines with an emphasis on natural wines.
For those who prefer al-fresco settings, the outdoor terrace is transformed to resemble an urban jungle, surrounding guests in abundant greenery to evoke the feeling of a forest in the sky.
Views from the King Power Mahanakhon is always impressive.
Mahanakhon Bangkok Skybar features a menu of sophisticated Western & Asian dishes along with signature creations by Executive Chef Joshua Cameron who is previously based in New York’s world-renownred Eleven Madison Park (#1 in the World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2017).
Mr Jean-Paul, Normandy Oysters [690฿] [AroiMakMak Recommended!] – It comes as a pair consisting of both hot and cold oysters. The hot oyster comes is topped with Nahm Jim sauce while the cold oyster is toped with Pickled Mulberry sauce. Fresh and nice!
Hokkaido Uni Panna Cotta [900฿] [AroiMakMak Recommended!] – This is the chef’s signature dish consisting of Uni, Ikura and Yuzu Ponzu. Definitely a must-try!
Mahanakhon Burger [600฿] [AroiMakMak Recommended!] – This is extremely value for money. The juicy Mahanakhon Burger with Bordier Truffle Gouda cheese and bacon, served with hand-cut fries. We love the hand-cut fries too!
48-Hour Australian Short Ribs [1200฿] – We personally felt that the short ribs and the sauce were too dry for our liking. Would definitely prefer it with more sauce.
Chocolate Tart [300฿]
Kaffir Lime Cheese Cake [350฿]
For avid instagrammers, Mahanakhon Skybar has a range of pretty desserts for your social media feed.
What’s the best time to visit Mahanakhon Skywalk? We highly recommend the sunset timing, which is also perfect if you intend to dine at Mahanakhon Bangkok Skybar since they start operations from 5pm.
Oh, don’t forget to check out their toilet, definitely the highest toilet with the best view!
That’s me checking out the Glass Tray at Mahanakhon Skywalk. As mentioned, if you dine (with food and drinks) at Mahanakhon Bangkok Skybar, you can head up to the Skywalk for free after making the payment. That’s a good deal right?
We stayed till dark to enjoy the magnificient views of Bangkok in the night.
This is definitely a place you will want to bring your loved ones to for special occasions. The view is magnificient and the elegance from the skybar will ensure a perfect romantic night out.
