The durian season is back in Singapore! Derrick from SG Foot on Food recently invited me to join him for a High Tea Buffet at Marriott Cafe, this time with the addition of durian treats! Since I’m a durian lover, I thought, why not!
And so I made my way to Marriott Tang Plaza, located in Orchard Road.
I was actually surprised to see a long queue outside the cafe.
Initially, I thought that this was just a durian dessert buffet but in fact it was a High Tea Buffet serving several of Singapore’s signature dishes.
From now till 31 July 2016, apart from the popular High Tea Buffet, there’s an additional section dedicated to the King of Fruits – Durian!
There’s an assortment of durian sweets of different styles, textures and taste, such as Fried Durian Balls, Durian Swiss Roll, Mini Durian Mousse in Cups, Durian Puff and many more.
Some were lighter while some was stronger in the durian intensity. You just have to try all of them to see which suits you better. I personally preferred the durian desserts to have a stronger intensity as most of them were quite mild.
The satay is calling, “Eat me!” Of course I did and it was delicious!

So here are the popular Singapore Must Eat Dishes – Fried Kway Teow, Fried Hokkien Mee, Laksa, Rojak, Nasi Lemak and Fried Carrot Cake!
My favourites are the Fried Carrot Cake and Rojak although I would have preferred the “you tiao” to be less crispy. The rojak’s prawn paste was good but I felt that the “you tiao” was too crispy for my liking.
Prawns! Definitely one of the more popular items in this buffet.
