Taiyaki is one item you must eat in Japan. It is also one of my childhood snacks as I used to eat them in the former Yaohan at Plaza Singapura. Thus, when I was in Tokyo, I was determined to find the best one.
Naniwaya Sohonten (浪花家ç·æœ¬åº—) is the place to head to because they are the original makers of Taiyaki since 1909, that’s 108 years of history!
While every business is thinking of mass production to reduce manpower and improve timing to increase production, Naniwaya stuck to the traditional method of making Taiyaki individually using a special pan.
Naniwaya’s taiyaki is so popular because it is packed with red beans that takes 8 hours to make daily. The batter is thin and crispy and it is significantly different from those that give more batter than red beans.
Do be prepared for quite a wait especially during peak hours. Hey, this is original makers of Taiyaki ok!
