Thai fine dining? Patara is the place to go.

Aroi Mak Mak got invited to a food tasting at Patara Fine Thai Cuisine where we got a sneak peek of their World Gourmet Summit 2017 Degustation Dinner.

Located on the third level of Tanglin Mall, the area is quiet  and quite the perfect  spot of peace in town.

The restaurant transports one back to Thailand  and seating is spacious throughout the restaurant.

Service was above average. The waiters and waitresses were pretty attentive.

The media lunch consisted of 4 courses and a beverage. I tried the Thai Milk Tea which was not bad. It started out very sweet but towards the end started getting very diluted.

The first course was Goong Sarong  served with chilli and avocado mousse. This won me over on the very first bite. When you hear the “crk” sound, you will know how crisp it is. Fried prawn wrapped in crispy filo pastry is definitely a new favourite dish of mine. The chilli was sweet and not spicy at all while the avocado mousse was more bland than I would have liked.

The second course was the Yum Nua Wagyu which is seared wagyu beef with Thai aubergine, chilli and lime dressing. The meat was tender and easy to chew which I really enjoyed. The salad was sour and spicy which went very well with the meat.

Next, was the Grilled Lamb Rack marinated with a special blend of Thai herbs. This came with a Thai rice cracker, corn and some salad. It was easy to eat the lamb and I could separate the meat from the bone with ease, which says a lot because trust me, I am one of the messiest eaters you will ever meet and my cutlery skills are basically non-existent.

We also got a little glass of Gin and Tonic with Napue Gin, an award winning gin from Finland.

Lunch ended with dessert where I got to try their Coconut Sticky Rice with Mango and Coconut Ice Cream. The mango was sweet and the coconut ice cream melted in my mouth with a subtle  flavour that did not overpower the mango. Mango sticky rice is one of my favourite things in the world and the one from Patara did not disappoint.

In conjunction with the World Gourmet Summit, you can enjoy a set lunch from $25++ or dinner at $68++, more information can be found on under the promotions tab.
