Pratunam is well known for its wholesale shopping district and tourists from Singapore and Malaysia love staying around Pratunam because of the close proximity to Platinum Fashion Mall. When we mention food in Pratunam, most will associate it to Wanton Noodle and Chicken Rice. How about a proper and good Thai restaurant? We found Ross Kitchen at Akara Hotel, just next to Airport Rail Link Ratchprarop station.

As you enter the restaurant, you will be greeted by the vintage theme and also some beautiful spots to have your photo taken. The bar and restaurant is slightly dark and uses bright colourful neon lights to bring out its character.

We are not here for drinks but to check out their Thai food. Ross Kitchen features food from different regions of Thailand in a modern fusion style but you will still get to enjoy the authentic flavours from it. It’s not your typical Thai central food such as Pad Thai or Fried Rice but something more than that. It’s next-level Thai food.

Some fresh vegetables to kick start your engine. We can’t stop munching on that pork crackling with the homemade salsa sauce.

Ross Signature Salad [450฿] – Ross signature salad is made right in front of you and we love its flavours. It’s uniquely-made with with fresh raw seafood, and you cannot get this combination anywhere else.

Lao Tartare [350฿] – This is simple yet addictive. If you are familiar with larb, it’s the roasted rice flavour that you will find in this dish.

rosskitchen-beefcurry

Wagyu Beef Cheek Curry [450฿] – This is a good dish to go with rice. The tender beef cheek is a must-try.

Isan Duck Confit Larb [400฿] – Is this a Thai dish? Not so but partly since it’s infused with larb-flavours. It is marinated and confit for 3 hours with liver pate, king oyster mushroom and aromatic black truffle oil. A crowd favourite but I would personally prefer the meat to be even softer.

Crying Tiger [350฿] – One of the signatures from Ross Kitchen. Isan-style grilled beef brisket and you have to dip it in their jaew sauce. The way it is served ensures the meat is kept warm but don’t wait too long else it will be charred.

Thai Glutinous Rice Balls [90฿] – Delicious bua loy to end the meal.

Local Mixed Fruits in Syrup Infused with Pungent & Bitter Orange [90฿] – If you prefer something cold and refreshing, then go for this traditional Thai dessert which can be quite hard to find in Thailand.

It’s especially challenging to find a good and authentic Thai restaurant Pratunam district. Thank goodness, after trying out Ross Kitchen, we can safely say we have found one.
