Somtum Der as the name suggests is a restaurant selling authentic Isaan (North-Eastern Thai) food! Today’s recommendation is something more than that! Many of our followers have been asking us where to find good Jim Jum in Bangkok but we can’t really answer because many of such places are not really comfortable. Yes, many of them do not have air conditioning and might not be as comfortable. But at Somtum Der, that is not the case because it’s a clean and comfortable restaurant with modern decorations!

Jaew Hon or Jim Jum is actually like a mini steamboat using claypot. And this is only available at Somtum Der’s Thonglor branch. This time around, you can really enjoy this dish in comfort with a peace of mind because you know that you will be served fresh and quality food.

The raw ingredients were nicely presented and they even have a special paste which you add into the soup to give it an extra dimension and it was really pleasant to drink.

You get 3 different dips to go with your food!

Aside from Jaew Hon or Jim Jum, they also serve the usual Isaan fare which consists of the following:

Somtum with Deep Fried Minced Catfish [90฿]!

We always recommend that you order sticky rice to go with your somtum! Pinch a little sticky rice and dip it in the sauce of your somtum. Voila!

somtumderthonglor-larbphed

Larb Ped (Spicy Minced Duck Salad) [100฿] is a slight change from the usual pork option.

Fried Chicken Thigh [90฿] is always irresistible in Thailand! We like the crunchiness and the addition of fried garlic!

somtumderthonglor-drinks

Order some healthy drinks such as Lemongrass or Roselle [45฿] to go with your meal!

If you are in Thonglor and craving for some decent Isaan food or Jaew Hon / Jim Jum, Somtum Der really makes a good option for you to dine in comfort!
