A definite MUST TRY street food, is the Thai style marinated Fried Chicken also known as “Gai Tod” in Thai. Every single person whom I recommended it to, fell in love with the chicken upon the first bite. The batter is light and crispy but so flavourful and delicious with its light hint of salt and garlic.
For most stalls, you have the choice of Drumstick, Thigh, Breast Meat or Wings. At some stalls, you can even buy half a chicken too!
You can find these fried chicken carts almost everywhere in Bangkok. With such delicious chicken that is much more delicious than KFC, you probably won’t even care that it’s sold on the streets.
In Pratunam alone, you can easily find 2 to 3 such carts located at different parts of the market.
This stall above is at Si Phraya, at the entrance of Soi Songphra. Whenever I stay at iSanook Residence, I will surely walk out to get this delicious Gai Tod. Over here, the essence of garlic is stronger.
This stall is located at Charoenkrung Road. I can only say that the taste of Gai Tod is just magical. If you want something more filling, accompany it with sticky rice, the local style.
And the most important part, make sure that it is fresh and hot. It is best when eaten fresh! And one is never enough! I’m salivating as I’m typing this! :)
