Update: 22 April 2016
Suan Lum Night Bazaar Ratchadaphisek is still not fully open as of today. Although many restaurants are already open, only half of the shops inside the shopping mall are ready.
They have a mini night market along the streets though.
At the moment, I won’t really recommend you to specially make a trip here since it’s not fully open yet. Unless you have nothing else to do or you have a restaurant here that you want to visit.
This watermelon freeze is something which caught my eye in the market though. It’s sweet, refreshing but heavy to hold.
The project here seems to be always pushed back. Will keep you updated once it’s fully operational.
Suan Lum Night Bazaar Ratchadaphisek is a brand new development along Ladprao Road and Ratchadaphisek Road. Suan Lum Night Bazaar is not a new name, in fact it was the most popular night market even before Asiatique and Talad Rot Fai came into existence. However, as their land lease expired, they had to vacate. Suan Lum Night Bazaar Ratchadaphisek is their new home.
Many of the former shop owners at Suan Lum Night Bazaar will be setting up their stores at the new Suan Lum. Suan Lum Night Bazaar Ratchadaphisek will be the world’s longest in length stretching 1.5 kilometres.
Suan Lum Night Bazaar Ratchadaphisek will consist of a mega shopping center which will hold 1800 shops (this is almost similar or even bigger than Platinum Fashion Mall), a night market, 4-star hotel, 24 hours supermarket, magic and cabaret shows, a fitness centre, a boxing gym and a water park. The soft opening is on 23 December 2015 and the grand opening is scheduled for February 2016.
I went down to check out the development and I believe it will take another 1 to 2 months before all the shops are ready.
The lights are quite nice at night at the moment, they give this place some “life”.
You can access Suan Lum Night Bazaar Ratchadaphisek via 2 MRT stations. The hotel side is nearer to MRT Lad Phrao (Exit 1) while shopping side is nearer to MRT Ratchadaphisek (Exit 2).
Don’t miss out the mega dinosaurs here!
What’s open now?!?
Ping’s Restaurant is the first to open here! They serve Thai Teochew Seafood and it’s their third outlet! I have visited their Pathumwan Princess’s outlet and I enjoyed the food there. Their Must Try is the Braised Fish Maw Soup in superior chicken broth! You can check out my review here.
Champions Sports Bar is a nice place to chill over some alcohol and football. Did you know that they serve really good and authentic Singapore dishes such as Laksa, Hainanese Chicken Rice and Fried Hokkien Mee? For Thai friends who want some good Singapore food, you know where to go now.
Another restaurant open is Hikaru Restaurant which specialises in Japanese Buffet at 595 baht nett. Cafe Amazon will be the next to open.
Will update more information about this place when I have them. But I’m sure this new place is definitely going to be BIG! :)
