Unlike the metropolitan city of Bangkok where new hotels open every month, many hotels in popular locations in the quaint Southern town of Hat Yai are aged and outdated. We began our quest to hunt down the newest and most Instagrammable hotel in Hat Yai which will attract the younger generation to want to stay at a glance. Thankfully, we managed to find one of the newest hotels in Hat Yai – The Lantern Hatyai Hotel, recommended by Doreen of HatYaiGo3, who tirelessly brings you the latest in Hat Yai through her weekly livestreams.
Driving in central Hat Yai along Nipatuthit 2 Road, you will easily notice The Lantern Hatyai Hotel with its unique facade, standing out from the other buildings in the vicinity. The hotel is only 8 months old!
The theme of The Lantern Hatyai Hotel is “Luxury Modern Chinese Style” and you can notice all the small little details all around the hotel. You will need to proceed to Level 2 for check-in using either the stairs or the lift.
While your check-in is being processed, do take some photos as there are many Instagrammable spots all over.
There are 3 room types in The Lantern Hatyai Hotel:
Deluxe Double/Twin
Every room is beautifully furnished and equipped with high-quality modern amenities, including an LG air-conditioner, flat-screen Smart TV, air sanitiser and a hands-free dustbin.
One of the most important aspects of every good hotel room is their beds and pillows. Upon lying on the bed at The Lantern Hatyai, you will notice the same plush and comfort as any reputable 5-star hotel, despite its 3.5-star rating.
The bathroom also places a high emphasis on quality. They are using the latest TOTO toilets & bidets and even the feature wall tiles are from Italy.
Grand Suites
If you want the best photo spot in the hotel, try your luck reserving the Grand Suites. There are only 2 units of Grand Suites, which come with a separate living area complete with a traditional sofa and a private terrace. Fun fact: The wood used in the hotel is specially-imported 100-year-old wood! Do check out our video of the Grand Suites below.
Location
The hotel is 20 minutes away from Hatyai International Airport. Its central location means itโs only steps away from famous landmarks such as Kim Yong market and Robinson Department Store. There are plenty of local eateries and good restaurants near the hotel and getting around is also easy as every popular destination is only about 5-10 minutes away via Grab.
If you love taking pictures, there are also many photo spots in front of the hotel which you shouldn’t miss.
Lantern Cafe
If you are in the mood for some sweets, Lantern Cafe on the ground floor of the hotel attracts many locals and tourists who visit for meals, light bites and of course, photos.
The Lantern Hatyai impresses with its attention to detail to make the guests feel comfortable during their occupancy. In terms of the beds and amenities, it is already superior to many old 5-star hotels, so if you are looking for a memorable stay in Hat Yai, don’t miss The Lantern Hatyai.
