The dessert trend now in Bangkok is that it’s going back to traditions with traditional royal desserts. You can see such cafes opening up all around Bangkok. One of them is V’Lacha Siam Dessert & Tearoom (เวฬาฌา), located in Soi Ari 1.

It shouldn’t be difficult to spot this shop because it stands out from the rest from its beautiful and bold design and deco.

As you enter, it’s actually a very beautiful and comfortable place to chill out. But before that, you will have to proceed to the counter to make your order.

They sell a variety of Thai traditional desserts and if you are unfamiliar with them, you should check all of them out. Do ask them for the menu for a full list of their offerings.

We headed up for a more spacious seat and was surprised by the different decoration too.

vlachasiamdesserts-breadwithcustard

This is their best seller – Bread with assorted custards. Their “kaya” comes in different colours from different ingredients. This was seriously addictive because a serving of their bread isn’t sufficient to finish all the custards. We didn’t want to waste it and decided to order a second serving of the bread since it was so delicious.

Dip into the custards, be generous with it.

vlachasiamdesserts-lukchup

Their Luk Chup here is also delicious but definitely more expensive than those you can find easily around Bangkok. 5 pcs of Luk Chup cost about 45 baht here.
